Obama And The Unions

Posted in politics by roving on February 7, 2009

I’m in a Union. The UAW. However, I don’t get same perks as anyone working for the big three.  We aren’t as over paid as the auto workers. It was the unions that called for safe work places, living wage, and shorter work hours. Along the way the unions became greedy.

I wish the union wasn’t needed at my work place but if it wasn’t for them, the company would likely get rid of people for any minor reason just so they could hire in people at lower wages. Before the union came in, the company showed over and over they were not to be trusted.

Obama paid back the unions for helping him get elected by sneaking in a executive order. The order instructs federal agencies to have construction contractors make agreements that require contractors to negotiate with unions, recognize union wages and benefits, and follow collective bargaining agreements.

Stefan Gleason, vice president of the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation: “The order ensures that union bosses will collect a huge slice of federal spending in the form of forced union dues paid by workers on federal contracts. With nearly a trillion dollar “stimulus” spending planned, this action not only raises the costs shouldered by the American taxpayers, but it also discriminates against the 92.5 percent of private sector employees who have chosen not to unionize.”

I’m sure we all seen the man digging a hole. One man digs, three others watch him dig. This is going to double the cost of projects.

At my work, we don’t have 3 people doing a one man job,  buyouts, being paid while sitting at home, or make huge amounts of money for turning a few screws. A few times we never received a raise.  We have never gone on strike. If the company could be trusted to be fair, I’m all for dropping the union.  Some union workers give all the rest of us in a union a bad name.

Obama has no right forcing agencies to work with only unions. Just as unions have no right ripping off companies and in this case the taxpayers.

Note: I don’t like the idea of the union to contributing to anyone running for office.  Just because I’m a union member doesn’t mean I agree with who they endorse.

As a former non union employee of the United States Postal service, I can say the union members have ruined the Postal Service. Most all union members work very slowly so as to draw overtime pay almost daily. Union Stewards don’t do hardly any work causing others to draw overtime doing their share of the work. I was harashed daily because I did not share those ethics.

If you are a member of the UAW then you are a hypocrite. President Obama supports unions and working people. You have been brainwashed by neo-cons that don’t give a damn about you or this country. They only care about filling their pockets on your back. Or you could just be a natural suck-up.

The smaller companies with unions are nothing like the larger ones. If we pulled half the stunts other unions have done, The company wouldn’t survive.

I believe everyone has a right to work. Obama doesn’t. So, it looks to me like Obama is the biggest hypocrite of all.

Obama’s wife threw hundreds out of work by closing down a plant in Chicago. Who by the way was earning very low wages. I guess we have two lying hypocrites now.

Open your eyes Obama lovers. He cares NOTHING for you.

You complain about the Unions but if it wasn’t for the Union and people that stand up to corporate greed then you wouldn’t be making half as much money and probably few if any benefits you get now. People have fought and died for workers rights but you are still supporting the people responsible for sending your jobs overseas.
